Using Power point, it is very simple to produce some simple presentations for your lessons for your smart board or interactive white board. Here are some tips for you to consider when making resources for your interactive white board lessons.
- Ensure all can see. Make sure that the pupils at the back of the class can see the board, and that the font size isn't too small.
- Without tails, not with! Use sans-serif (without tails) fonts as opposed to serif fonts. the latter are used for printing, and are not very clear on digital white board screens, whereas sans-serif fonts are the clearest and are the easiest to read on digital smart board screens.
- Think About Colours! Colour contrast is important, for example yellow on a white background may be visible if you stand half a metre away, but become impossible to read at a distance. So always think about bold, clear colours. You want your text to be of high contrast to the background.
- Extra tools: Don't forget that most presentation software allows you to have a pen during the presentation (for example, in power point, during a presentation, right click and choose pen and then color), so you can still highlight words even if you don't have an interactive white board. Or, if your presentation isn't going well, you can always resort to drawing and detailing some football tactics!
- Good bulb care. It's essential that you take good care of your bulbs. They only have a relatively short life span, so remember, always switch it off when you're not using it!
- Confidence is important. Make sure you are confident with the resources you are using. If not, your pupils will spot it, and won't feel as energised. Don't be afraid of asking for help from your pupils too!
